About this tour

Singapore's hawker culture is on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and some of the best food in the city costs less than S$10 a plate. On this 3.5-hour walk your licensed guide takes you to Maxwell Food Centre and Chinatown Complex, the two big hawker centres of Chinatown, and orders the dishes locals queue for.

What you taste (9 tastings): • Hainanese chicken rice from a MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand stall • Hakka yong tau foo from a MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand stall • 5 more hawker favourites, for example char kway teow, popiah, chwee kueh, char siew or laksa • A local dessert, and a kopi or teh (local coffee or tea)

Between the food stops you walk through Chinatown's shophouse streets and past its temples, and your guide tells you how the street hawkers moved into the food centres, and why Singaporeans will queue 30 minutes for one plate.

Good to know: • The two Bib Gourmand stalls are listed in the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2026. Hawkers have rest days (the chicken rice stall closes on Mondays) and sometimes sell out. Your guide then picks another stall from the MICHELIN Guide. • Tastings are shared portions, enough for a full meal. Tell us about allergies or diet needs when you book. • Easy walking, about 2 km, partly outdoors. The tour runs rain or shine. • Ugkstour is not connected to the MICHELIN Guide. Ugkstour is a Singapore travel agent (licence TA03758N), and your guide is licensed by the Singapore Tourism Board.
