Night Safari Singapore: How to Get There and Back to Your Hotel

How to get to Singapore's Night Safari and back to your hotel late at night: bus, taxi or private car, how long to stay, and tips for families.

Night Safari Singapore: How to Get There and Back to Your Hotel

The Night Safari is one of Singapore's most popular evening activities. You ride a tram through the park and walk trails to see animals that are active after dark. The animals are the easy part. The hard part for many visitors is getting there and especially getting back to the city late at night.

Where is the Night Safari?

The Night Safari is in Mandai, in the north of Singapore, next to the Singapore Zoo. By car it's about 30–40 minutes from the city centre, and longer by public transport.

Opening hours and how long to stay

At the time of writing, the Night Safari opens at 7:15 pm and last admission is 11:15 pm. Hours can change, so check the official Mandai website before you go.

Plan about three hours inside: the tram ride takes around 40 minutes, then add the walking trails and the animal presentation.

Buy tickets online before the day. Evenings and weekends can sell out, and you'll choose an entry time slot.

How to get there: your options

  • Public bus / MRT + shuttle: good for budget travellers, but it's a long trip with transfers, and tiring with children after 10 pm.
  • Taxi or ride-hailing: fine for couples or small groups. It's easy to get there, but cars can take a while to arrive at Mandai late at night.
  • Private car with driver: best for families, older travellers and anyone tired after a long day. Book in advance.

The trip back is the main problem. When the park closes, many visitors are trying to leave at the same time, and you may wait for a car with tired children.

Tips for a good night

  • Arrive at the start of your time slot. The first tram rides are usually calmer.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and bring insect repellent. It's humid even at night.
  • No flash photography. It disturbs the animals and isn't allowed.
  • Eat first or eat there. There are restaurants at the entrance, but they get busy.
  • Children: the tram suits all ages, and you can skip the longer trails if they get tired.
